Patent research

There may be one or each of two reasons for researching patent publications. The first being freedom to operate, ie is my business free to use the auction process, the second is, is my process new, inventive and therefore patentable. They are quite different and clarification of your objective would be required to provide a credible quote. This may be otiose for the reasons expounded below.
You have said "need help with Patent research on [an] auction process". An auction process is a method of doing business and as such will not be patentable, particularly in the UK or Europe but even in the USA these days. There would be little point in researching existing patents if your auction process is not patentable because you cannot infringe a patent if your process is not patentable. If your proposed auction process implements some new form of technology there may be some reason to explore the possibility of patenting or the risk of patent infringement further, is this the case?
