Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the website: This is a sample 3 page website for an online bookstore.
Kind of development: New website from scratch
Description of requirements/features: The client is an online book store who wants to set up a shopping cart for the sale of its books and related items. The client’s objective is to make it as seamless as possible for users to select and purchase books.
You will not be completing a “working” shopping cart in this job but the design of the web site should resemble a shopping cart and should contain the necessary icons, buttons and/or links that would allow users to buy books. These links will not be operable, but must be present on the pages.
Requirements:
1. The site must consist of at least 3 complete XHTML/HTML5 pages. You must include a navigation bar on each page with at least 5 links, 2 of which will lead to a placeholder page.
2. Your site must include at least 25 books for sale. These can be of your choice and should be categorized into various genres, or other categorization, for example, by author, popularity, etc.
3. The display of each book must include a thumbnail of the book's cover, a short description and the book's price. Optional: you may add further information, such as the ISBN number, the author's name, the publisher, the date of publication, etc.
4. The display of the books must be done with the use of arrays. This means your XHTML table or logical division or whatever element you choose to display your books must be written in the JavaScript code. You should use the “innerHTML” property to set the text string containing the XHTML code in the logical division or other element on your page.
5. You must use a form of looping, such as the for, while, or do while statement to iterate through the items in your array. Remember that array indices begin at 0, while counting the number of items in an array starts at 1.
6. Somewhere on one or more of your pages, you must use another array to display other information, such as contact email addresses or telephone numbers for the book store.
***Deprecated HTML/XHTML tags and attributes are NOT permitted in this assignment. CSS properties must be used in their place.
