This basically happens due to image exif data properties . I have handled this same case earlier using jQuery . I am able to help you with solution

I will tell you one thing. Read carefully. Let see if someone click image from mobile with landscape mode . Then obviously when you upload the image , if the image is already rotated according to landscape then at the end of the view port of your website is also same according to your problem. This is not a jQuery issue. But if the person rotate the image in portrait view before uploaded then you will see right placement of image. :-)
