Description of every module: I am looking for something like a very cut down version of the Torque app. The idea is that this application will run as an agent when the smartphone is powered on and will only require a single configuration page. There will be no interactive pages for this application.
A user will pair their smartphone to an OBD2 Bluetooth device (Many available but ELM327 is the most common) and from here, the agent will gather logs and upload them to a website.
The trigger will be much like a car kit, whereby, when a connection is made to the Bluetooth device, the agent starts logging all running data locally. The agent will also activate the GPS and log geometry data too.
All data will be stored in an open format (e.g. csv) on the device initially and I will provide an upload site for the data to be sent to. When the agent software can make a connection to the web, these cached data files can then be uploaded. Upon successful application, we can then discuss which specific data points I will need.
Take a look at Torque or OBD Car Doctor for an idea of the OBD2 data interface.
Description of requirements/functionality: Users are expected to pair their own devices.
Once installed, it should be a 'set and forget' app.
The look and feel is completely open at this stage.
The configurations page would need to include the following options:
"Only upload using Wifi"
"Disable GPS data gathering"
