Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the business: IT Systems Admin
Description of requirements/functionality: Given a list of filenames as input, (ie "scriptname.sh file1 file2 file3 file4 file5") this script queries each target file (parsing the output of the /usr/bin/file command) for the type of compression used on it. Then the script then automatically invokes the appropriate decompression command (gunzip, bunzip2, unzip, lzma, uncompress, or whatever). If a target file is not compressed, the script emits a warning message, but takes no other action on that particular file
Specific technologies required: bash
OS requirements: Linux
Extra notes: Needs to be completed by 8th May 2016
