Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I've spent the past couple of days trying to develop a database in Filemaker to export to Word or Excel, retaining the bold, italic and underlined formatting. I'm a complete novice, and have concluded that it isn't worth my time to take this further.
Typically I am looking to export 700 records at a time which form the basis of a report. Currently I have a simple script which 'copies all', and I can then paste into Word, which ironically retains the formatting. But running 'export records' does not retain the formatting....?
GetAsCSS ( tbl_Survey_Data::Item ) seems to work, but I cannot get it to translate in word or excel.... There's probably a simple resolution to this???
I have found a post by Doug Stoubach here, which I follow in principle, but seems massively complicated for what I need and despite all the formatting his example retains, bold, underlined and italic don't appear to be included??? so I am concerned it may not be possible? - https://community.filemaker.com/message/556340
If someone has already resolved this and can help me out I'd be happy to appoint to sort for me.
I don't want to use plugins and am trying to keep as simple as possible.
Thanks Brad

Bradley J.18 Jan 2019Hi Alex, thanks for the message I will try and attach the file to main proposal. I've looked at XSLT etc, which is all very complicated and I think only translates a cell at a time. I think I need some JavaScript written or something which will parse the record based on the getascss result, then rebuild it somehow to match the original formatting. The final destination is a word file, i'm only putting into excel to tabulate, as 'Copy All' and pasting to Word carries the formatting, but not the table...
