Customise WP Adpress plug in into a Wordpress directory. Bespoke PHP required.

We have created a new supplier directory based at http://directory.selfbuild.ie . We have not currently populated it with the full categories and sub categories. You will see that we have also installed an advertising plug in (AdPress PHP)and put in an example banner and one mpu.

It may be helpful to view our current supplier directory at http://www.selfbuild.ie/supplier-directory/ as we wish the advertising to work in broadly similar fashion. The advertising you see comprises of a banner that appears globally throughout every page in the site along with 4 MPU’s. The top two MPU’s in the directory home page are global and again appear on every page throughout the site but the bottom two come from a pool of category specific MPU’s that are chosen randomly. When you browse a specific category page of the directory the top two MPU’s are sold to companies and the bottom two become the location for the two global MPU’s. For example if you click on a specific category such as Architects & Designers, the top two MPU’s are architect ads which have been purchased specifically for this category.

We would like to have the same category ad specific functionality with the new directory. On top of this we would like the ability for the results of manual searches to display ads smartly. For example the new directory has a Category of Professional Services and a Sub Category of Architects and Designers. Say we assign the words “House Plans” to the sub category Architects & Designers then we would like the two category specific ads to appear in the results with the two global mpu’s below.
