Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
General information for the website: We compare different types of insurance
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 4
Description of requirements/features: The goal of this project is to implement Google Analytics event tracking on 4 web forms. These events will be triggered typically when validation is broken (validation is already installed).
I have written a document that explains exactly when each event needs to be triggered.
There are 4 forms that will need to have this functionality. However, they are all similar to each other so I think a lot of the work can be "cloned" on to 3 forms after the first one is done.
Notes: I have tried doing this myself and I succeeded in getting the general concept working correctly. The only problems I had were due to jQuery selectors (I am not proficient in jQuery) and so I have removed all of my work so that it can now be done 100% correctly.
For this project, I have removed the connection to our Google Analytics (GA) account. I do not want any test data to be included with our live data. So, I propose the following. In the code for each form, simply apply a placeholder (perhaps a comment) where each GA event should trigger and I will go back and manually place each event myself. For your own reference, a GA event trigger with Javascript looks like this:
ga('send', 'event', ‘category’, ‘action’, ‘label’);
