We are a graphic design company based in the UK and are looking for some help to develop software that runs from our PC that will make life easier for ourselves.
We sell a lot of personalised items online, namely car signs on ebay. At the end of every day we create a list which is in PDF format. On this list is the name of the item purchased by the customer, and their requirements for personalisation that is to be applied to the item itself. At the moment we have to manually copy the name from the PDF and paste it onto the car sign. The car sign originates from a PSD file and is saved as a JPG file with the name applied to it. This is a very time consuming.

We have explored the possibilities of customers personalising the items themselves directly from their web browsers, however this is proving to be problematic. The main reason for this is we use eBay as one of our main sources for sales. We are currently working with a member of people per hour to develop our own web based software that will be implemented within our own website.
With our own website now been taken care of, we still need to address our current situation.
Computer programming is something I know very little about, so I will describe what I think we need and hopefully one of you will have a solution to our problem.

I believe we need software that can potentially read the PDF that has been created and distinguish from the list what item has been purchased. I would like the same software to then be able to open the image file, which in this case would be a JPG preferably and apply the desired name. The name for the personalisation would also need to be taken from the PDF that was previously created. I’m guessing there would have to be an area within that specific car sign that we designate for the text to be applied?

So in a nutshell, we looking for software that can open an image file and a list created by ourselves. From the list the software needs to copy the text from the list and know exactly what car sign to apply the text to. We have approximately 1000 car sign designs, and the list is growing, so please bear this in mind when thinking of your suggestions.
