Description
Experience Level: Entry
Currently with zip command we can use pv to throttle the IO bandwidth:
zip -r - $ZIP_TARGET | /usr/bin/pv -L 10m > $ZIP_FILE_PATH
I would like to use do the same with 7zip on linux, but the stdout stream seems not to be working with a directory as input. However it works fine with a tar archive.
Testing:
1. Create a folder with photos and files
2. Use 7zip to compress the folder with pv throttling at 10m (/usr/bin/pv -L 10m ) to get one zip file
3. use unzip to decompress the file resulting to one folder with all the files added in 1
** Please do not tar or archive the folder before zipping.
