Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
General information for the business: I run a hobby weather website
Kind of development: New program from scratch
Description of every module: You will have to start collecting ASCII data from the RS-232 port on a Windows pc. The weather sensor is connected to the local RS-232 port and sends ASCII data packeges every second. Those comma speparated data packages have to be split up and stored in a MySQL database.
The actual weather data has to be displayed in real time on a Webpage in a Chart, graphic gauges and Chart.
The visitor of the Website can enter any specific date or date range and will receive the table with min/max data of all weather date in that Periode of time.
The Software has to work like this free Software: http://www.sanday.org.uk/weather/index.htm
This Software does not support the weather sensor which has to be supported. I have all neccesary tech date about the sensor and the data it delivers on the Serial port.
Description of requirements/functionality: Requirements see here: http://www.sanday.org.uk/weather/index.htm
Specific technologies required: MySQL, PHP,
OS requirements: Windows, Linux
Extra notes:

Hello Dietmar,
Instead of writing a new database and website from scratch, would it be viable to write a 'converter' program (for the sensore) which would trick the original software into thinking the data had come from a sensor it supported?
The data flow would then be as follows:
Unsupported sensor -> RS232 -> Computer -> "Converter" -> Original weather software

Dan
