Software application development

We are seeking to develop a computer based research and analysis application that allows us to carry out numerous counts of specific behavioural aspects we watch on video (MP4 or AVI). The video is played on the screen (media player?). The aim is to have the video playing in the centre of the screen and to surround it by customizable buttons that the operator can press when a particular behaviour is observed.
