Description
Experience Level: Expert
The project is to deliver a proof of concept application so the following functionality has to be demonstrated. The specifics of the messages / web pages are not important.
The application will be written in Javascript on Adobe\'s AIR platform. It must be downloadable from a website and be able to run on Windows XP / Vista / 7, Mac OSX. It must check for updates and prompt the user to update if there are updates available. The user must be able to deploy the updates in a simple manner.
It needs to communicate with multiple servers across multiple domains via HTML using GET (with parameters) and POST (with data). It must be able to parse HTML (probably by getting access to the DOM structure of pages it downloads), XML and JSON and provide object level access to the information contained within them.
The application also needs to demonstrate the use of simple persistent storage, both file and \"local storage\"
The successful applicant will also be expected to demonstrate how to set up a working AIR development environment.
If the proof of concept is successful the successful applicant would be considered for taking the project through further phases of development.
