Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
I need a developer who is experienced in Kotlin programming.
MY BACKGROUND
I am a complete beginner at coding (but a fast learner). Kotlin is my first programming language. I have recently completed an App development course online and now I want to apply my new knowledge on my personal project.
In the past, I have done UX and UI design and I have used software like Axure, Sketch, Adobe etc.... to create interactive prototypes.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
I am trying to use Android Studio to build an app.
- The App is designed to have multiple screens (about 12).
- Each screen consists of a question and sets of answer options to choose from. Each set of answers (when selected) has a certain score.
- At the end (screen 12), the user will get a score. This score is derived from the addition of all the answers selected in the previous screens.
- Each screen also contains two buttons that allow the user to go back and forth between the screens.
WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR
- I have tried creating multiple ACTIVITIES for each screen and using INTENT to transfer data from one activity to another....however, the App was only able to move from MainActivity to the Next Activity.......it keeps crashing whenever I tried to move to the next activity. I tried re-creating the App several times but still met the same dead end. No error message in my LogCat.
Then someone on Stackoverflow recommended that I consider using FRAGMENTS, .....so I read up about fragments and I tried it out.........when I did, my codes for each fragment worked fine (at first). I was able to perform basic forward and backward navigation using the buttons on each screen without any problem.......however, when I started using BUNDLES to try transferring data from fragment to fragment.......the App crashed again. No error message in my LogCat.
This is why I need someone experienced in Kotlin to have a look at what I am doing and advice me. Maybe there is something wrong with my code?.....maybe I am not using the right commands?.....maybe I am missing something?
I aim to complete the App within a month and move on to other projects as well.
