Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We have a Facebook application that is currently in beta for which we need some specific work completed prior to launch. We are looking for the following primary skills at present which we may fulfil via more than one person.
PHP
jQuery/jQueryUI/jQuery templates
CSS
What we are looking for:
a) Implementing Facebook functionality. At the moment we’re not making any significant use of the types of functionality that could help the application grow virally eg “Like” button, publishing to walls, Opengraph functionality.
b) Code changes to the core functionality of the product. We have some specific changes to the way the application works that we want to implement. This will be straightforward for us to document exactly what we want.
c) Bug fixes. Fortunately these all seem to be minor in nature and most should be quick fixes.
d) Layout changes. We’re generally happy with the graphics but there’s one particular aspect we will want to change and there’s some elements of moving stuff around slightly on the page; where popups are positioned when they open, button text changes etc. If there’s any graphical creation required we have someone available for that.
What we don’t want:
Someone who says they can do all the work when it’s really beyond their capabilities. While it is possible we could find someone who can do all of the above, we know that it could be more likely that someone who has the core coding skills may not enjoy the layout changes required which could be better suited to someone else. It is entirely acceptable to us for you to say “I can do these aspects, but you would be better getting a CSS expert to handle those” and saying that would not rule you out.
Someone who won’t give us good value for money. I’d rather pay someone twice as much to do it in half the time. I don’t want to pay someone twice as much to do it in the same amount of time. We want to pay fair rates for a job well done. We absolutely don’t want to pay someone for half a job and then have to find someone else to finish it properly.
Next Steps
If you are interested, please feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
Next please tell us which of the above work aspects you believe you are suited for and ideally give us some indication of your prior experience with similar projects. Indicate your availability in terms of when you could commence work and approximately how many hours per week you could commit to and at what stages you would want to bill us (we pay very promptly, assuming there’s no issues with the work done).
Once we have a shortlist of candidates, we will give out more specific information under a mutual NDA.
