Conversion between Java & PHP

What needs done:

Java based software needs to be converted to PHP and integrated into another business application. Alternatively, PHP-based software can be re-written in Java and integrated into open-source software (Java).
Please indicate what similar projects you have worked on.
Running on Linux/MySql. Client/Server type architecture - it needs to be used by a number of clients.

This is a web-based application and the following needs to be considered when executing the project:
-page loading times
-web 2.0 features
-security (HTTPS/SSL)
- Most importantly, a nice user experience
-Payment gateway integration: New users will be offered a one-month free trial, then prompted for details

The right candidate will get repeat business.

Other requirements:

- This needs to be extremely reliable, but very simple to use.
- The successful candidate must provide user/developer documentation (i.e. what you have done and why you did it and why it benefits the end user)

Specific Expertise:

- Knowledge of Ajax/Flash/Flex/Air/etc to produce/develop/design amazing user apps.
- Knowledge of Java/Javacript/XML/PHP
- Experience in designing/developing web-based applications a plus; similar or applicable expertise will be considered as well.
- A knowledge of business processes for optimum design a plus, but not necessary.

Timeframe:

Needs to be done by 2nd week September - the sooner, the better.
