Description
Experience Level: Entry
I need a tool to parse CAN bus log files and visualize a few parameters, ideally written in python.
The raw CAN data is in peak .trc format, a space delimited format that has relative timings, data ID's and data in Hex. Parsing is fairly simple, and the 5 chosen parameters will be detailed to assist in decoding per the SAE J1939 spec.
The application must run under windows 10, although it does not need to be compiled as an exe, I am happy to run it from .py.
Upon importing the log file, the application should convert the file to periodic averages for the parameters detailed and export a CSV. The period is likely to be 1s averages, but flexibility from 0.1s to 60s averages would be ideal.
The application must have a graph that displays the decoded data parameters, with the ability to zoom and enable/disable parameters. This graph should be a simple time domain plot.
The application must have a graph that displays the count of averages under multiple parameters. E.g. X axis Torque as a %, Y axis RPM. The data shown on the graph should be a 2d histogram, showing density of time in different places in the X/Y Map. The output should contain absolute count, % of dataset and the mean of a selectable third parameter within the same window.
If the above application can be developed, there is scope to add features to be discussed and negotiated.
The application must be supplied in a state where it can run under windows and supplied with source code
