Update and SEO of existing joomla website

I have an existing joomla based website with a Virtuemart e-commerce shop that is looking very tired. I require the site to be more engaging and modern with a new template. The layout will change accordingly so this needs to be addressed as well I would have thought.

The other issue I need is for the site to appear on web browsers, at present there is very little traffic and although it has keywords/meta tags the site is near invisible on the net. I will need someone who could get the site recognised on the search engines initally with a veiw to more ongoing SEO in the near future.
