Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
The project is to setup our new Magento store www.opulight.com
We already have about 15 stores running on the sames Magento instance. This project is to install and configure a theme and do some design work. This is the list of required work:
• Finish the installation of the theme
• Configure the store homepage with this layout:
Hero Banner – 3 slides – 2 sec per slide
We would like you to create the banners.
The products the website will be selling will come from our supplier http://www.pacific-lifestyle.co.uk/ You can take inspiration and graphics from their website. We have their permission.
• Grid of 6 static block we can showcase products and / categories
• Grid of 8 featured products
• Block of three info boxes
This block layout can be seen on the www.maplin.co.uk for reference.
• Configure the other main pages so they look good.
Later we will provide content for the contact and about us pages, and others as needed.
• We have uploaded a small number of products. Later we will upload many more.
Here are some notes in relation the theme installation:
The template theme that needs uploading to opulight is too big to email so it’s sitting in the /www directory on our server and it’s called “themeforest-12621194-ves-blue-store-responsive-magento-theme”.
So far this is what we’ve do:
• Transferred across the /app and /skin files to get the basic template across to our site
• Set the current package name to ‘ves_blue’ and default to ‘default’ under System>>Configuration>>Design in admin
What’s next:
• The template didn’t work straight out of the box and we get the following error “Fatal error: Class 'Mage_Ves_Tempcp_Helper_Framework' not found in /var/www/html/app/Mage.php on line 547”
• It looks like the helper file is missing from the ves module so this needs someone spending a bit of time on to get it to work with our site
• We would also like all the modules and demo content installed (apart from products) so it’s like an out of the box template.
o Please note, our products are to be used. Please do not install the products from the theme.
We appreciate that the website will not look perfect at the first stage. We will have to work with the theme configuration to finish the design. This can be the second project.
