Magento API Integration into Mobile App

Magento itself will be used as the catalogue management system (CMS) and indexing system, and the catalogue will be queried using the built-in APIs.

I would also consider some kind of caching layer between Magento and the mobile application; we can discuss this later, but since the users of the service are going to be on mobile devices, performance is critical. Something may be needed which will buffer the content sitting in the middle - potentially something very straightforward, but probably not something built with Magento itself.

The job itself should be relatively straightforward, likely more-so than a full Magento roll-out as we are essentially cutting out the heavy lifting due to the fact that the entire front-end and database are being created by my development team, and the Magento work will mainly be on integrations.
