General information for the website: We sell hosting space/pre-built website template design to an online niche market.
Database management system (DBMS): MySQL
Description of requirements/features: Our current database (used for our Wordpress Multisite) is around 5GB. We need this database split into ~500MB chunks (while still being able to function completely) in order to reduce stress on the server. This job requires knowledge with WordPress Multisite and MySQL and the process of sharding a database (and the ability to manipulate wp-config.php to use the new databases).
We do not require the DB's to be restricted in size, space or number of websites as our clients do not have access to anything that will grow the DB significantly (ie: plugins). They pay for a pre-built website and the only things they have access to are blogging, events and a few customization options. The DB (5GB main DB) is just too large to run with any amount of stability through phpMyAdmin or another MySQL service/browser software and we would like to split the instances into many.
We currently have 3500+ members using our services and would like this process to be smooth, without much (if any) downtime.
Extra notes: Our deadline is ASAP. Our budget is your hourly rate.
