The following description details the work to be carried out on the HMM Surplus stock database. This includes all the
functionality discussed. The idea is that the database will be accessed via the website, with the ability for HMM to
update their Excel file with a simple upload. This page will be accessed by a new home page ‘surplus stock’ button, to
appear on all pages.
Excel file too large to attach, so will follow for the successful freelancer.
1) There are two separate stock Excel spreadsheets, one for Steel Stock and one for Aluminium. HMM will have the
ability to upload both to their website, as often as they like as when they sell stock, so it’s current. To read :
STEEL
ALUMINIUM
2) The Excel spreadsheet has approximately 1500 items for each material, Steel or Aluminium, with the following fields:
3) Search - there are two search criteria. The first would be a radio button which lives at the top of the ‘surplus stock’
page to filter one or the other database.
3) There is a text field in which you type the material you are searching for e.g EN8, or its equivalent*, this will then
display the search results in the same way as the current search
*Depending on the country of search there is a variation in the description EN8 is also 080M40 + three other possible
variations, so when we build the search it needs to identify these variations in description and bring all up, allowing for
the fact the Excel spreadsheet may only have one or two descriptions.
4) Web page - i. on the page there will be a paragraph stating “Surplus stock items are just a selection of materials
available, with a stockholding capability of 15000 tonnes, plus a similar capacity held at ports for our use, Hillfoot Multi
Metals is able to match customers service requirements on this wide portfolio of items”.
ii. There will be a new DDI number on the page.
5) Option for an enquiry link, would you like regular updates on surplus stock?” This goes to the enquiry form, with a tick
box, ‘send me regular updates’.
