Retrieve data from a .SQLite file

Firefox bookmark backups are in a .json file: bookmarks-[date].json. I lost this backup file.

I found a file that I understand contains the bookmarks themselves: places.sqlite 10 MB. But I

don't know how to retrieve the data and I hope an SQL programmer will find this not difficult.

Ideally, I would like to retrieve the data in .json format so I can import it to Firefox. If not,

I'll settle for any format legible in English so worst case I can key everything in.
