Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
Quick project, but if successful we have other data sets that I can brief separately.
Due to time constraints I'll probably award this job today.
Brief:
I occasionaly get asked for access to some data that I manage.
I need three things from you:
1) Create a database on our website's server that contains a small data set (Postcode, County Name, County Description)
2) Write code to display a form that I can insert into a page on our website that will allow our users to run one off queries against the database. Specifically, enter a postcode, which searches the database and displays the postcode, the associated county name and associated county description in real time.
3) Write some API code that we can display on our web page for our users to copy and use that sends us a postcode query and we return (a) match, postcode, traditional county name, administrative county name, ceremonial county name, date introduced, description or (b) postcode not found.
I update the postcode / county file several times a year so would need instruction on how to update / replace the dataset on the database without breaking it.
Our file is a simple CSV file containing about 2 million postcodes and county names & description.
The record looks like:
Postcode Traditional County Administrative County Ceremonial County Introduced Description
AB10 1AB Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 201106
AB10 1AF Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 199606
AB10 1AG Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 199606
AB10 1AH Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 199606
AB10 1AL Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 199606
AB10 1AN Aberdeenshire Aberdeen City City of Aberdeen 199606
etc....
The file is currently text double quote CSV formatted
