Power BI - Job Costing (1)

This project requires development of a Power BI dashboard to track job costs for a construction company. The dashboard needs to pull data from the company's SQL Server database containing project details, expenses, labor hours, materials used etc. and present interactive visuals to analyze job profitability.

The dashboard should have a main tile displaying overall summary of active jobs - number of jobs, total revenue, total costs and total profit. A filter needs to be added to select individual jobs. On selecting a job, detailed charts and cards need to show job budget vs actual costs categorized into labor, materials and equipment. Visuals comparing planned vs spent amounts will help identify cost overruns. Trend lines showing timeline of expenses will help track job progress.

Distributions and maps are also required. A pie chart should display percentage cost allocation to different cost centers. A map highlighting active job locations will help managers track projects in their areas. Conditional formatting needs to highlight jobs over/under budget.

Authentication is required to view sensitive data. Accordingly, roles and permissions must be set for different types of users. Drill down and export capabilities will allow deeper analysis. The dashboard needs to be responsive for viewing on desktops and mobile devices. Testing and documentation is expected to ensure smooth launch and maintenance.
