Description
Experience Level: Entry
Industry: Sports and Fitness
Analysis tool: Excel
Description of analysis: Simple, yet slightly laborious statistical analysis of Strava.com.
I want to know the following:
1. How many users there are on the site currently
2. How many users have posted an activity in the last 31 days
3. How many users are Premium Vs Standard
How to get this information is very easy and I will give an in-depth description here so you can estimate cost accurately on how to do each of them:
1. Strava.com signs up sequentially so all you need to do is go to http://www.strava.com/athletes/ and put a number at the end of that string to find the last one, I checked and it is about 17000000 (http://www.strava.com/athletes/17000000) but want an accurate number on the day you do the work so just keep iterating till you find the last one.
2 & 3. To get these figures you will estimate with a sample of users on the site. So use excel to use the random number generator function within a bound - formula is RANDBETWEEN(1, "the number you found in point 1"). I want a sample of 750 users, so do this function in a column in excel for 750 lines to get the user ID's to check, then put this figure at the end of the web address http://www.strava.com/athletes/ to look at that account.
To get point 2 look on the users account page and there is an activity box (see attached image for what it looks like) then see if there is a recorded activity for the last 31 days - should be pretty obvious then put in the next column next to the user number a yes or no for this point
For point 3 again on the users page you are looking at on the left hand side near the name is a thing that says premium, see attached image, then mark yes in another column next to the number.
Spreadsheet is the deliverable with the last User ID (this will change a little day by day) then three columns, User ID, Activity in the last 31 days? and then Premium or not?. Please note that the function of RANDBETWEEN in excel will change when you refresh things so I would suggest you generate the 750 rows then paste special the values so they are a stable list and do not change as this will invalidate the results when I come to check over it.
I would like this done as soon as possible so best bid with a solid profile will probably just get the job without interview so please let me know when you can start and estimate to finish that you can achieve.
I will randomly sample the list you have produced to ensure the accuracy as important financial info will be based on this work before finalising the payment.
