Recent blog post in four different sized images on front page!

Description of every page/module: Homepage.
I am using "X theme" on a Wordpress homepage.
Description of requirements/features: I want the four most recent blog post to show as four images in different sizes on the homepage. Right now there is one big images including four smalles images, and that is how I want the end result to look like. The most recent blog post shall be fronted as the biggest image and then the 3 recent blog post after that to be featured as the three smaller images. I have also added the example photo of the four images in this job search.

When you hover over the image a transparent text block comes up over the images that shows the name of the blog post, and date. Similar can be shown at the page BLOG at the top. Hover over the carousel at the top and you wil see a transparent text block come up with some info of the blog post.
