Joomla 2.5 Horizontal Image Menu

I have a problem which I cannot seem to solve no matter how much I have searched for a fix...

I am trying to migrate some websites from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 and I can do everything bar one thing and that is get a Horizontal Hover Image Menu working in Joomla 2.5.

For example/test I have set up two Joomla websites one is using 1.5 and the other is using 2.5. The 1.5 site is using a Horizontal Image Menu and is working exactly the way I want as you can see from the example given below.

I need the exact same menu but on Joomla 2.5. The way in which I achieved the menu on the Joomla 1.5 example is by using a extension called Cassrina Hover Image Menu but they don't make the same extension for Joomla 2.5. I have tried to find a similar extension and cannot find one that does what I need.

So the job is to either in order of preference find me a extension that does exactly what I need being easily create a horiztonal menu in Joomla 2.5 using images/buttons that I make that does hover over effects when the mouse is moved over them and also the on/hover state remains when on the corresponding page. What I mean by that is if you look at the 1.5 example if you go to the About page and then look at the menu you will see the hover over effect for the About menu item remains on to signify its on the About page.

If there is no extension then I need you to tell me how to achieve this effect using css or some other type of code.

EXAMPLE/TEST SITES:

Joomla 1.5 site with working menu that I want - www.nisites.com/belfast

Joomla 2.5 site with no menu - www.nisites.com/menutest

So to summerize the job is to show/tell me how to easily achieve the same menu that is 1.5 on a 2.5 site.

Sorry its not a big budget but I cannot imagine for the right person this would take any longer than half an hour to sort out.
