Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the website: Wedding Photography Portfolio
Kind of development: Customization of existing website
Num. of web pages/modules: 1
Description of every page/module: I have a portfolio feature on my website (http://www.weddingdayphotos.co.uk/portfolio) that allows me to create a series of galleries (around 20), each containing 100-200 images.
The tool I had built a few years ago uses NextGEN gallery to manage the images and there's a custom interface used for loading and displaying each gallery. This has become outdated now and doesn't really work on some modern browsers, often failing to load the entire gallery, not letting the users scroll right and more recently we can't order the sequence that images appear in the gallery so trying to tell the story of the day is impossible when the images are appearing in a random order.
Description of requirements/features: I need someone to replace the functionality of this gallery, resolving any compatibility issues that there are now and provide a simple tool (similar to NextGEN) that allows us to manage the large numbers of images we need to in WordPress.
I'd like you to propose and demonstrate a simple tool that can replace this. The requirements are:
- All images are shown in a horizontal line, side-by-side
- users can click to advance the gallery forward
- users can swipe or scroll (mobile/iOS) right-left to advance the gallery forward
- the gallery is displayed and loaded on the same page (AJAX?) without changing the URL
Similar formats of galleries that work:
http://www.kenziekatephoto.com/#38
http://www.lisse.com.au/#17
http://www.traversandbrown.co.uk/#11
I would expect a developer to take a copy of our site so any changes could be done on a dev server - I specifically don't want to risk any downtime on our current website. Once the galleries have been proven to work on the dev server, I would want you to upload/install the changes on the live site.
Extra services needed: Installation, Customization, Optimization
