Blog Template for my site

I need a blog template for my website that is similar to my site design. It needs to be SEO friendly and needs to have an index page where snippets of the latest articles (I decide) are listed and links to older articles. This page needs to be generated automated. My site is HTML but I can run PHP scripts. Maybe a converted Wordpress template would be good but I don't know Wordpress that well and need your advice what's best and easy to use...
