More details bellow...
Website Name
AWRClaim.com as in ‘Agency Workers Regulations Claim’ (being created)
Audience
Any Temporary Worker in the UK (of which there are approx. 1.8 million)
NB: The anticipated demographic are Blue Collar workers not White Collar workers so much, therefore the language and style needs to be adjusted accordingly
Background
On 1st October 2011 the long-awaited, European Union-conceived and business-loathed Agency Workers Directive (AWD) finally came into force.
Its aim is to address the historically low wages paid to many temps (34% less than permanent staff doing the same job, according to law firm Eversheds), and is being hailed as the last major piece of equal pay legislation.
But of all the detail, the part that concerns employers is the fact that after 12 weeks' continuous service, workers paid via PAYE, through an agency or an umbrella organisation (ie, not the self-employed), will now have the right to the same basic hourly/daily rates as full-time workers in the same job.
Other AWD conditions oblige employers to offer the same overtime/shift work, equal unsocial hours premiums, bonuses and comparable annual leave to that enjoyed by permanent staff.
Purpose of Site
• To enable Temporary Workers (TWs) to be educated about the recent Legislation (Agency Workers Directive / Agency Workers Regulations) that came into force on 1st October 2011
• To enable TWs to understand that the AWR Legislation gives them extensive new rights to enforce through employment tribunals if necessary
• To enable TWs to objectively understand whether their current working situation would allow them to make a claim against their agency or employer under these new regulations
• To understand what rights they have, the responsibility of their employer / agency
• To enable the TWs to answer some simple questions to deduce whether they can make a claim?
• To purchase a ‘Claim Pack’ which is an informative document(s) explaining their rights, what they should do, how to make a claim through the relevant authority (e.g. Tribunal)
• To inform that a successful claim could be worth unlimited damages and a £5,000 fine to the offending employer / agency
Min of 10 unique strap lines will need to be completed and sent over by Tuesday 8th May 12pm for the successful bid.
