SQL Project to find ‘Nearest Office’ to postcodes in the UK using ordnance survey grid

SQL Project to find ‘Nearest Office’ to postcodes in the UK using ordnance survey grid references.

This is NOT an online nearest to locator project, I just want the SQL so I run a query to append the closest office and the distance to another data table.

I am happy to use a MS Access or MySQL database.

This would suit someone that has developed a ‘nearest to’ PHP / MySQL project or anyone who has a good understanding of SQL, there are many examples out there on the internet, I just don’t have the knowledge to do this myself.

I have a database which has two tables..

Table 1
This is a list of UK Postcodes with their respective ordnance survey grid references.
Field 1 = ID
Field 2 = Postcode
Field 3 = Eastings
Field 4 = Northings

Approx data 1 Million records

Table 2
This is a list of ‘offices’ which includes their Postcode and also that Postcodes grid references.
Field 1 = ID
Field 2 = OfficeName
Field 3 = Postcode
Field 4 = Eastings
Field 5 = Northings

Approx data 4,000 records / offices.

What I would like is a Query that creates a new table, Table 3..

Table 3 will be the same as Table 1 with two extra fields.
Extra Field 1 = The name of the closest Office
Extra Field 2 = This distance to the closest office.
