Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM Operator

We need someone who has used this equipment to operate the camera on or near the 30th January (to be confirmed) in Kew, West London.

The purpose of the video shoot is to put together a songbook using signing, symbols and and singing for children who are deaf, blind or have communication difficulties.It is based on the work done by the organization MAKATON (http://www.makaton.org/about/about.htm) to help people with learning or communication difficulties to communicate using signs and symbols.

Approximate date: 30th January 2012 in Kew Gardens, West London

Basically, we will film a torso frame of the presenter/signer against a plain backdrop signing ten songs in two different ways.

So we should end up with 20 1-2 minute video clips. Each clip will be shot in a single take. Just to let you know, there will also be a representative from Makaton there to oversee the filming.

We have a Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM + tripod and lighting

The editing will be limited to adding title text and syncing footage for each clip with a pre-recorded soundtrack. We are hoping to do this ourselves to cut costs but may consider outsourcing if we can get a reasonable quote.

As this is a speculative educational project, our budget is very limited - but the requirements for the camera operator are very basic in that they will set up the camera (white balance, focus, shutter speed, video mode, etc...) and shoot the 20 clips from the same camera position and with the same lighting throughout. In depth knowledge of this video camera is essential to set it up correctly.

I don't know if this camera is too good for this job (it will be hired from: http://www.newdaypictures.com/Video_Camera_Hire.html - so if there is a cheaper alternative with equivalent quality feel free to make a suggestion) but the final video will be burned to DVD and has to be high quality.
