I need help with optimizing my blog

I'm an award-winning freelance journalist (formerly Fleet Street) and blogger, and I've been asked by a magazine to be a 'blogging ambassador' - essentially this seems to mean spearheading a specific health/wellbeing sector and blogging about it. I've been told it gives me scope to drive traffic back from their well-patronised website/Twitter presence and to monetize if possible. But I have no idea how to do this!!! Help!!!!
