Payment by results. If you really know how to market new non-fiction books read carefully.
We are a new imprint in London, and we need PR representation in NZ. Our first book is "Agile Project Management for Government" due to be published in a few weeks on July 31.
Click on http://amzn.to/JnwxF2 to see it on Amazon where it is available for pre-order.
This is an exciting new book, and the first in its genre to review the effectiveness of the new IT strategies that the UK and USA have unveiled.
We need to get it reviewed in the right newspapers and magazines. Author appearances at conferences. Author interviews on the radio etc.
Please see the attached pre-publication marketing sheet. If you cannot open it send me a message and I will email it to you.
We are getting a few pre-orders through, but we are failing to break through into the top 10 in our product category on Amazon:
www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Books-Agile-Project-Management/zgbs/books/379406011
Our ranking on book sales overall is currently 261,534 - our target is better than 20,000.
Your mission if you choose to accept it:
1. This is a one year contract, breakable by either party at 1 month's notice.
2. We will pay you for the visible output from your activity. A retainer of $xxx every month will be payable if and when successful PR communications occur recorded in the media for that month. For example, the appearance of a book review in a mass market magazine, a mention in a news article, a high profile blog review, TV appearance by the author etc. In your bid please quote the monthly retainer payment needed, and propose what 'success' looks like.
3. We will pay you for results.
a) If the book is in the top 10 in its category for 4 weeks in a row you will get $yyy.
b) Every time the book is number 1 in its category you will get an additional $zzz.
c) If the book gets into the top 20,000 sales of all books for 4 weeks in a row you will get $aaa
d) If the book gets into the top 10,000 sales of all books for 4 weeks in a row you will get $bbb
e) If the book gets into the top 5,000 sales of all books for 4 weeks in a row you will get $ccc
The sales rankings information will be recorded at 8am London time every Monday morning.
We feel that PR is a more cost effective way of marketing a book than advertising, so we would rather pay you than pay for adverts. However, if you feel an advertising campaign would help you may suggest that.
To sum up - please provide your proposal for:
a) Monthly retainer $xxx
b) What constitutes an acceptable level of evidenced published activity of the success of your PR?
c) Your bonus when the book is in the top 10 in its category - $yyy
d) Your additional bonus when it is number 1 in its category - $zzz
e) Your bonus when it gets into:
- the top 20,000 - $aaa
- the top 10,000 - $bbb
- the top 5,000 - $ccc
