Description
Experience Level: Expert
PATTERN CUTTER/SAMPLE MACHINIST
REQUIREMENTS:
Owners of a fashion boutique, we are looking for a very experienced, skilful, professional and creative pattern cutter to work with us on various collections with a long-term view of joining the team on a permanent basis. He/She must be based in or around London, unless they are willing to meet us in London for meetings should the need arise.
- The individual must be committed, honest and reliable, especially with regards to working within budgets, deadlines and time management.
- Must be able to work extremely well from photos, sketches, mood boards and possibly samples. Fashion designing skills + the ability to produce technical drawings would be ideal.
- Must be able to produce toiles for complicated designs, although some designs will not require this as they will be relatively straight forward.
- Must be able to make alterations and amendments until the pattern/sample is perfect.
- Although we would consider taking on a separate machinist, ideally, we would like our pattern cutter to produce samples for us in order to maintain accuracy of the designs and to avoid communication/production delays which typically occur when producing samples elsewhere.
- Excellent communication/listening skills in order to avoid remaking samples several times and minimise costs. Fluent English would be ideal.
- Work produced must be extremely neat and of high standards.
- Production details/specifications must also be very, very clear to ensure bulk production goes smoothly.
-We need someone who can work relatively quickly should we need a collection developed asap.
IMPORTANT:
- Please make sure you have a sufficient amount of work within your portfolio, as we would like to see examples of previous work.
- With regards to references/places you may have worked for before, please make sure these are verifiable, as we will be checking all references.
Please note, we are looking to contract the right person for long term work. However, if we find that the right applicant does not have a reasonable amount of work to reflect the style of our clothing, we may need them to produce patterns for 1-2 garments + samples, in order for us to check the quality and standard of work before we contract them to produce a large collection for us – which typically consists of 15-20 patterns + occasional wear.
STYLE:
Our clothing line is predominantly made up of long maxi dresses and skirts, elegant blouses and tops.
The style is quite versatile – our cuts and tailoring (particularly for our 2nd collection due in a few months) reflect the likes of designers such as Valentino, Phillip Lim and Jil Sanders. Designs/photographs and more information will be sent to applicants who can display credible portfolios and CV’s.
Our designs are a mixture of very simple cuts to somewhat complicated cuts.
PRICING:
Please note, the price shown does not reflect anything.
The pattern cutter will be paid per hour or per pattern. Larger projects will be paid monthly and will obviously depend on the exact amount of work being carried out. However, pricing will be discussed after we have considered various factors + the quality of work, and after we have met the applicant in person.
We take our work and projects very seriously, hence, we will only consider serious applicants – those with excellent portfolios.
