MySQL Reports Development

We operate a LAMP server where a MySQL server and series of databases are used to store data/information. The data is submitted by devices and web applications via a series of inbound APIs and applications and equates to around 45,000 records generated per day. A series of applications/procedures perform post processing on these records to interpret or calculate other information. A series of web applications interpret and present subsets of the stored data for viewing.

We require someone who is well versed in a MySQL reporting tool to develop a series of reports, search tools and data entry forms to support the analysis, modification and creation of the stored data in the database. These reports need to generate statistical information that allows us to monitor the health of the systems we operate, show the current state of devices submitting data into the system as well as create various other reports that allow our teams to streamline their activities.

Search tools/forms/pages are necessary to query the dataset to create reports based on user defined criteria (for example searching for data relating to a specific device, for a specific time period, excluding a series of results that match a criteria).

Initially we will have a series of reports and search tools/forms that we need creating, but then during the course of everyday business we will develop new requirements. We need someone who can address our current requirements and would then be available as and when to be contracted for further work to create new reports.

We also need to create a series of data entry forms that allow the additions and amendment of stored data in a controlled way. These data entry forms need to allow the creation of new records and amendment of existing records that meet a specific set of data rules so the created data does not cause undesired issues in other parts of the system. Often a data entry form submission will need to setup multiple records across a series of tables in a specific way so the data can be re-combined by other parts of the system.

We will expect you to select, document/specify, install and maintain whatever tool-chain you recommend to meet the reporting needs. You will need to work with our in house team to ensure that this is integrated onto our server without adversely impacting the other functions/operations of the server.

We will specify the requirements for a report/search tool/data entry form and then expect you to document how your work products are created, develop and test them before handing them over for use by our operations teams.

We will them use the report/search tool/data entry form and define any issues/defect or changes we feel necessary leading to your update of the report/search tool/data entry form and the supporting work package documentation that you will have created.

Whilst the "..seller need to work from..." is set to on site, we'll expect a mixture of on site time to work with the team to understand what we need and how we will work together, remote working on the development of reports would be fine.
