Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
This character to perform is HETCH HETCHY which is actually a hidden valley under water near Yosemite. Old Wise and a bit tired but proud and desiring to tell his story. I liked your demo sound like a good fit.
Here's the script:
OHN MUIR: (in the distance) Hello - hello Hetch Hetchy. (echoing long and playing on the double word hetch into the echo)
HETCH HETCHY: (Yawwnnn with an echo, scruffy but really deep voice) Oh H he- hello John Muir. (shorter echo)
TOUR GUY: This crossing here is Hwy 88 that finds its way up the Sierra Nevada, where a hidden valley of beauty often compared to that of the Yosemite Valley has been under water for over a century.
HETCH HETCHY: So…you finally found me, ya my echo used to be so deep and rang for months, and well now being full of water, I kinda lost my voice.
TOUR GUY: Created by a 400 ft. dam the Hetch Hetchy water supply, some of the cleanest municipal water in the US still flows through old pipes through here.
HETCH HETCHY: Yosemite? ah ya ha well shucks that’s what what Mr. Muir says, but hey I kinda got it easy here…no smog, clear water, a lot of animal buddies.
JOHN MUIR: (in the distance) It’s true, your a real hidden beauty!-y!-y!-y!
TOUR GUY: Well, your’e the reason for many people in California were able to get water after the big earth quake of 1906. The quake caused fires that burnt down the city, there was no fast access to water.
HETCH HETCHY: I remember, ya, those poor people way over on the other side of the state with no water, and here I am with all this snow pack dripping with clear water.
TOUR GUY: So together the people built 167 miles of pipleline of gravity flow drinkin water from your Tuolumne River, that still flows a century later today. That’s very generous.
HETCH HETCHY: Shucks Just part of that magical water cycle here, as long as your coastal winds keep blowin’ those snow packed thunder clouds my way, I’ll keep piping water down back to you.
TOUR GUY: Up ahead if you look quickly at the path cleared in both directions the diagonal crossing ahead which reveals itself as there are no structures built over the pipeline all the way to San Francisco.
