I generally tend to hire editors who send me a short sample of my own audio edited.

What kind of editing? Basically the audio needs to be polished to sound professional, e.g. de-clicked, de-essed, etc. Maybe some other technical things that I myself am not aware of... It is the voice over narration for part of a massage course.
