Hi,

I have a unique project that I need assistance with.

I am from Bermuda, and I DJ. As a DJ in the Caribbean, I have collected a number of custom dubplate recordings, over the years. A dubplate is a custom recording, where an artist mentions your DJ name in the song. Dubplates from deceased, or hard to reach artists can be very valuable to have.

Most dubpaltes are sent split, so that the song can be mixed and mastered, however, sometimes, the dub is already sent tied. I have a handful of these tied dubplates that I would really like to pull the vocals from. I have done this DIY acapella process myself, using a plug-in called kn0ck0ut. Kn0ck0ut is based on the phrase inversion technique, and has offered quite good results

What I am now left with are acapellas that have slight bleeds of the instrumental. In addition, the vocals sound thin and processed. I am hoping there is a way to take these DIY pellas from rough and not useable, to clean and full sounding.

    Hi Nathan,

    I do believe there's a better way of doing this. If you have the original tracks that the voice over's are on - by aligning the original with the track that has the VO and phase reversing the original will cancel out the track completely and leave you with just the VO in perfect condition. I can do this for you if you have not come right yet.
