PART-TIME, LAWN TREATMENT CANVASSERS - JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Canvasser

Reporting to: The Franchisee

The Job

You will be employed on a part-time basis and be required to work as directed by a Franchisee. Initially this will involve canvassing in Dorset, west of Poole and south Somerset areas, but other areas within reasonable distance, may be included later on. The number of days worked per week, depends on the requirements of the individual Franchisee.

The job involves generating leads from people on their doorsteps for a free, no obligation quotation from a lawn treatment company. You will also be trained to quote and sign-up new customers if this is requested. Payment for leads and for quoted and signed up customers are made according to the pay scales below. A lead is a name, address and telephone number from eligible householders who are interested in finding out how much it would cost them to have their lawn treated four times per year. A signed up customer will have accepted the quotation and will want a date for a first treatment from the Franchisee.

You will be expected to post a lawn treatment leaflet to houses that are unoccupied at the time of your call.

This position pays a basic wage plus a commission, based on the number of leads and customers signed up. (see structure below).

Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Planning/Preparation
â�’¢ Arriving at the Post Code area designated by the us on time,
â�’¢ Checking that you have everything you need before leaving, e.g. clipboards with rounds and quote forms, uniform and id badges etc.

Canvassing
â�’¢ Canvassing according to procedures and training,
â�’¢ You will be expected to generate between 10 and 20 leads per day,
â�’¢ When requested by us to quote and sign-up customers you will be expected to achieve between 5 and 10 new customers per day.

After Canvassing
â�’¢ Checking that your leads or new customer details are complete and legible (you will not be paid for leads/customers with missing addresses/postcodes, incorrect telephone numbers or where we have to decipher illegible handwriting),
â�’¢ Ensuring that all your leads or new customer details are returned to the client for processing the following morning,

You will be:

â�’¢ Comfortable talking to people at all levels,
â�’¢ Physically fit,
â�’¢ A fluent English speaker,
â�’¢ Tenacious,
â�’¢ Well-presented (smart/casual, no facial jewellery and no visible tattoos),

Hours

Working hours are 2pm to approximately 9.00pm, Monday to Friday. To allow for travel time, actual canvassing hours are generally from around 3.30pm until 8pm.

Equipment and Uniforms

Essential equipment (e.g. clipboards and quote forms) are provided, along with uniforms and identity badges, which must be worn.

Travel Expenses

25p per mile, claim to be submitted to Head Office each week.

Wages

A basic wage at statutory minimum hourly rates, plus £5 per verified lead and £10 per customer signed up and quoted.
