Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are looking for an individual that loves technology and can clearly communicate the benefits it can brings companies and who can work with our existing sales and technical team on a freelance basis. Essentially we need help cold calling, appointment setting and handholding at meetings. You\'ll be joining a company that according to Microsoft is already their leading seller of cloud computing services in London. In addition to this we are Microsoft Gold Certified and one of only a handful of Cloud Accelerate Partners (only eight to date) in the UK. We specialise in providing consultancy, implementation and project management services to organisations looking to move to the cloud. However, this part of the business is also relatively new and still in \'start-up\' mode.
The main software as a service we consult on is the BPOS suite of services. You can find out more about the product here:
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/online/
For us 2010 was about putting in place a good platform for the business. We have achieved this by establishing excellent operational processes and best practices whilst also forging an ever closer relationship with Microsoft (to the extent where we are their lead partner in London). 2011 is about leveraging that platform to create an outstanding provider of technology services.
Up until now we have kept business generation activities \'in-house\' with just one sales person; however we are now at the stage where we want to replicate and scale up the success we\'ve had over the past year. In order to this we want to bring on a freelancer that can help generate sales.
Why are we in such a hurry? Because according to many industry sources we are at the bottom of the \'hockey stick\' when it comes to cloud services. It\'s an immense opportunity and we don\'t want to miss it because we can\'t call enough people (our 2010 experience is that one in every fifteen cold calls leads to a sale). Essentially we believe that this is the year in which cloud computing will take off in a big way. Technology purse strings are being released (as we move out of the great recession) and cloud computing solutions provide the \'best bang for the buck\'. Essentially it\'s a relatively \'easy sell\' when you\'re halving technology costs whilst virtually eliminating downtime.
Sounds great so what\'s the catch? Well we\'re still a relatively young start-up business and hence have to conserve cash. This means that we\'re looking for a candidate that is confident and passionate about cloud computing and the benefits it brings whilst working on a purely commission basis. It\'s like working with a start up, but with a lot less risk since we\'re already one of the leaders in the space and selling the industry leading product, and where everything is possible even permanent and Director level positions - that\'s the mindset we are in.
Microsoft pays us a good double digit percentage commission on every license we sell (for the first year), so for a 100 person company this translates to a very decent four figure commission to our company. We\'re willing to pass this straight onto the chosen candidate. We\'re also prepared to give you a cut of our of consultancy fees as well. If you\'re just interested in appointment setting then we\'ll pass on 50% of the Microsoft commission to you. If you\'re more field sales based and manage to close the sale then again we\'ll give you 50% of the Microsoft commission. If you can do both then you can have the full 100% of the Microsoft commission; and this would be the ideal candidate. So let\'s say you sell 100 seats (either in one go or 10 x 10) you can expect a commission of around £2.5K (inclusive of cut of consultancy fees). We would expect an excellent salesperson to sell around 200 seats a month.
We have the platform from which to build a great career and business given our relationships with Microsoft. We have the technical expertise and case studies to back you up and give you credibility. We have a CRM system from which you can work and a fairly decent sales process already (but we\'re open to suggestion). We can also provide all the Microsoft sales training you\'ll need to educate yourself about the product. You should assume that you\'ll be going into every sales and follow up meeting with a member of our technical or technical sales team so we\'ll be there to back you up.
So this role is perfect for a bright self starting, ambitious individual who loves cold calling (we know you exist) and who is confident enough in their own abilities to work on a commission only basis. We can provide the rest. If you are used to talking to IT managers, office managers, small business owners or even financial directors then this could be an excellent role for you. Existing contact lists and a technical sales background would be an added bonus.
If you have any questions about the role then feel free to PM me though PPH.
