Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I'm in the final stages of development for a new web application that allows rental of anything (not just single a category of item).
It allows both businesses AND consumers to add items they own for free (stock in the case of businesses) and decide rental rates.
It's a relatively new business model and I need help developing a killer USP for a pilot launch in the very near future. Obviously this will be used throughout the business. This is a .com startup business so I have no customers yet.
Users of the site can benefit in several ways - here are the key ones I think:
1. Save money over buying something new
2. Try before you buy
3. Reduce environmental impact by not buying new
4. Quick availability - just down the road - no delivery wait
5. Earn money by renting what you own
6. Meet people who own what you want - social action
7. Local businesses benefit with free advertising and new channel.
Ideally I'm looking for someone who is highly effective at delivering a brand strategy for the venture which can be carried through all sales, marketing and PR communications, so obviously must have excellent all round communication and writing skills.
I'm looking for someone who can develop a S & M strategy and then execute it too. So this would include things like sourcing a designer for marketing, managing PR, finding suitable sales candidates
My target is to have a pilot market with paying customers within a month. The sales strategy has 2 elements - the first is to obtain suppliers and get them to advertise on the site (no obligation advertising) - this will be using some identified categories of business to start with. The second is a consumer sales activity which will get them to rent items using the site. There will need to be strong PR for that second activity with local media and social media.
I have a fully working trial site already but may need a little work to align with branding work.
I'd imagine this work to be around 4-6 hours the first week to develop the strategy, then less the following weeks (perhaps 2-3 hours/week. These aren't set in stone so if you have any other suggestions then let me know.
