Outline of the report

This report relates to the history of management and the development of management thinking. The report will focus on different management theories and theorist. The report should briefly focus on management history and origins and its contribution to an organisation or existing work place.
it should bring an understanding of Management thinking and be able to relate and apply theory and theorist.

The report should consist of the following

In order to appreciate management principles the report should demonstrate an understanding of the history and origins of management and an understanding of how a current organisation has developed their own management thinking. you should evaluate and discuss management theory.


For each of the tasks below write your response/report as a short document of 400-600 words.

Discuss the history and origins of management. Your discussion should include reference to Management theory. Examples or published case studies should be used to illustrate your points.

Explain scientific management and state how it differs from earlier management. Your explanation should be a progression from task 1. Include theory and theorists.

Give an example of how early scientific management thinking can be used/applied to a current construction organisation

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of scientific management. Your discussion should state how management thinking has developed to take into account human relations.
