JQuery AJAX POST

I have a form that I need to change so that when the form is submitted it does not open the page in the same window but rather fancybox opens with the page in it:

This is because it is fine in Firefox but in IE as the back button does not work we need this pop up.

I need a front end developer to write a javscript function (I have a basic one that does not quite work) that will call the page that current loads from an item record but display it in a fancy box pop up.
