Interactive world map with pins

I'd like to create a world map with pins (editable by us inhouse) where users are able to hover over/click on each pin to reveal a small snippet of information.

The map is to showcase where in the world we do business.

The map will be designed by us inhouse although I'm not entirely against using a Google map for this.
