IE compatibility for imagemap jQuery script

I'm using a script at the moment that works perfectly in most browsers apart from IE8 and below. Its in relation to HTML5 CANVAS and the script developer hasn't the time to look into a fix.

I have the script running for viewing and may need rewriting to include compatibility for all browsers if it cannot be integrated with the current script.

The developer has sent me a link to look at that shows a possibility of this being able to work on non HTML5 compliant browsers.
