Help me get my first Wordpress Blog off the ground

I'm looking to recruit someone who's very familiar with Wordpress blogs.

I recently registered a site with 123-reg.co.uk (a hosting company I've used before) and set-up a self hosted Wordpress blog.

I need help organising a theme and getting a functioning site off the ground.

I'm not looking for anything too fancy. Just something that looks clean and professional. A minimalist Wordpress theme might suit me.

As I'd like a blog, I obviously also want the opportunity to post new information, and to be able to do this myself without needing to get help from an IT professional.

My understanding of Wordpress is that once I'm up and running with a site I should be able to manage day-to-day updates myself.
