Help fixing a wordpress site. Minor design changes to blog

Hello.

I've been putting together a site, everything is working well apart from the display of the blog.
The theme is professional but the developer will not respond to any support requests.

I have 2 problems:

1. Each news item shows a very large banner by default and there is no option not to show a large image above the title, choosing not to include an image simply shows a broken image url icon. I would like to take away the big pictures above each news story.

2. The blog posts are shown in the wrong order with the newest posts at the bottom. I have tried to check for sticky posts and used plugins to reverse the order but it does not help.

I would really appreciate any help. After many hours of trying, i'm at a loss.

MORE Information:

The theme is called LittleSquare, but the developer has removed it from ThemeForest. They have a website, but i cannot get hold of theme at http://themestudio.net/contact-us/.

The theme uses 'NHP theme options framework' for changing some of the settings. (http://leemason.github.io/NHP-Theme-Options-Framework/)

The theme also uses 'Visual Composer' for creating page content, but that's not used on the blog pages.
