Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
This project contains to make prototypes and patterns of 2 designs from my sketches and instructions. We are in the starter up phase of creating a small collection of retro inspired dresses. The style flirts with the 40s, 50s and 60s and has a bit of a modern touch to them also. The dresses are a mix between a a cocktail dress and a day time dress, not evening gowns. We require high quality both when it comes to the fabric as well as the pattern/sewing. We need to find someone very skilled and reliable with a lot of contacts when it comes to fabrics. Our original sketches will be shown to you once the project has been awarded to you. They are similar in style to the photos attached to give you an idea.
1) Create Pattern and Prototypes after measurements, sketches and reference photos I will provide.
2) Source fabric of great quality. The fabric we want for our dresses are stretchy materials. Heavier than jerseys. It does not matter if it’s stretch cotton or polyester spandex blends as long as it’s heavier and more steady. I will send fabric swatches to give you an idea of what we are looking for. We will go into more detail regarding the fabric once this project has started, but it’s important that you can source any kind of fabric.
3) Send photo's to us via email of the finished prototypes before you send them.
4) Sending the prototypes and 2 copies of each designs pattern across to us (please keep a copy of the pattern if changes are needed.)
Once the project starts all communication will be kept here on this site. We will expect answers to our emails within 48 hours and we will log in daily on working days to be available to you. We will then send everything you need, proper sketches and reference photos, fabric samples and measurements.
For both dresses: Please consider small changes if necessary into the price when you provide the quote + the shipping to us.
All rights to the patterns and design will be owned by us.
Please ask questions regarding the sketches or regarding my instructions if any of this seems unclear along the way so I can explain. I am not a pattern maker so if you can see flaws in how I draw the seams etc, please communicate to us and we can agree on a way to get the best silhouette of the garment and solve any problems that might turn up together. Kindly let us know the turnaround time when you place your quote.
We are based in London UK.
We have many more designs so if this project turns out well we might have more work for you.
We are very excited about this project and hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards
Linda and Darren Jackson
